Renew, Upgrade or Downgrade Your Subscription

Billing/Licensing

This article explains subscription renewal, upgrade and downgrade workflows for PrivateDLP and USB Disk Security, covering two customer groups: individual‑site purchasers via Stripe checkout links and enterprise customers. For users purchasing license keys through our official Stripe payment links, automatic recurring billing is enabled by default. Downgrade operations are generally not supported for these self‑service subscriptions; users may contact our team to perform upgrades, such as moving from Standard Edition to PrivateDLP Pro Edition, and a dedicated custom payment link will be provided. Enterprise customers for bulk deployment must reach our business email busdev@privatedlp.com for all renewal, upgrade and downgrade‑related requests. Proper subscription management ensures endpoints maintain an Active license status and keep full access to USB security, device control, network governance and AI‑powered DLP auditing capabilities.

Introduction

Maintaining valid subscriptions ensures your Windows endpoints stay licensed and enforce data‑leak‑prevention policies as expected. Expired or improperly adjusted subscriptions will set client license tiles to Inactive status, which restricts device control, network filtering, USB copy logging, and the AI screen audit feature of PrivateDLP Pro. Different processes apply depending on whether you purchased via our Stripe self‑service checkout or hold an enterprise corporate license.

Customers who buy license registration codes directly through our website’s Stripe payment links are enrolled in automatic recurring billing by default. Stripe will process scheduled automatic charges to keep your licenses valid before expiration. You can observe the updated expiration timestamp on the License tile inside your Windows client after successful renewal.

Renew Subscription

For active self‑service subscriptions from our Stripe checkout:

  • The system automatically charges your saved payment method before your subscription expiry date. No manual operation is required.

  • If automatic payment fails due to card expiry, insufficient balance or other payment issues, your client will shift to Inactive state once expired. You will need to complete payment manually to re‑activate your license.

Upgrade Your Subscription

Self‑service customers can request subscription upgrades. Common scenarios include upgrading from USB Disk Security Standard Edition to PrivateDLP Pro Edition to unlock advanced features: USB‑to‑file copy audit logs, file transfer alert rules, and LLM‑based AI workplace activity auditing.

Since self‑service portal in‑place modification is unavailable, please contact our support team. We will generate a dedicated custom payment link for your upgrade. After you complete payment via this exclusive link, license metadata will sync to your Windows endpoints, unlocking Pro‑only capabilities and updating your expiration date on the local License tile.

Downgrade Your Subscription

Downgrades are generally not supported for subscriptions purchased through our Stripe self‑service payment links.

You cannot reduce your license tier, decrease seat quantity, or switch from Pro back to Standard via self‑service operations. If you have special business requirements, please get in touch with our team to discuss available options.

Enterprise Subscription Management

Enterprise customers deploying with MSI installation packages and bulk activation keys cannot complete renewal, upgrade or downgrade via self‑service Stripe workflows.

All enterprise‑related subscription operations, including:

  • Subscription renewal for bulk endpoint seats

  • Upgrading from Standard to PrivateDLP Pro for existing corporate deployments

  • Adjusting total device quota (increase or decrease licensed seats)

  • Modifying contract terms for custom‑feature deployments

Must be submitted by email to our business development mailbox: busdev@privatedlp.com

Our team will review your existing contract, current device quota, active endpoint status, and provide customized quotation, payment instructions and license adjustment arrangements. After processing is finished, deployed Windows clients will synchronize updated license information and display correct expiration time on the local License tile.

Impact of Subscription Status on End‑point Functions

When your subscription lapses or enters Inactive status:

  1. Core Pro‑edition features will be locked: USB file‑copy recording, transfer alerts, and AI screenshot auditing stop working.

  2. Policies pushed from the web portal for device control and network control will no longer fully enforce on Windows clients.

  3. Basic USB Shield protection may run in limited mode, while full DLP protection is suspended.

After successful renewal or upgrade, endpoints will sync new license data. You may trigger manual policy synchronization on the client side if the Active status and expiration timestamp do not refresh immediately.

Troubleshooting Common Scenarios

  1. Automatic Stripe renewal did not take effect: Check payment failure notifications from Stripe, confirm card validity. Contact us if you need a manual payment link.

  2. Completed upgrade payment, but client still shows old expiry date: Wait for web‑portal‑client synchronization, or restart PrivateDLP client to pull updated license information.

  3. Enterprise MSI clients show Inactive after contract adjustment: Confirm our team has finished backend license modification. You can re‑sync policies on affected workstations.

Summary

  • Stripe self‑service customers: Automatic renewal applies. Contact us for upgrades (Standard → Pro) with dedicated payment link; downgrades are not generally supported.

  • Enterprise customers: Send all renewal, upgrade and downgrade requests to busdev@privatedlp.com.

Keep your subscription valid to maintain full data leak prevention protection across all your Windows endpoints.
