Browser Control is a built-in policy module available within USB Disk Security (Standard Edition) and PrivateDLP (Pro Edition). IT administrators can centrally manage website access for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers via the web management dashboard. The module supports both blacklist and whitelist filtering modes, flexible time-scheduled policy enforcement, individual device configuration and bulk batch deployment. Combined with the platform’s network control capabilities, enterprises can effectively regulate employee web browsing behavior, block risky or non-work websites, reduce productivity loss and prevent access to malicious web resources.
1. Overview
Unregulated web browsing creates multiple workplace risks: staff distraction from non-work sites, exposure to phishing and malware websites, and potential data leakage from untrusted web platforms. The Browser Control feature delivers lightweight, user-mode website filtering specifically for Chrome and Edge. All policies are configured remotely on the web console, and Windows endpoints automatically receive and enforce the rules without requiring kernel drivers, avoiding compatibility conflicts with antivirus or EDR software.

2. Browser Control Dashboard Overview
The main Browser Control page displays all managed endpoints in a unified table view.
Table columns include:
Device Name: Name of managed Windows workstation or laptop
MAC Address: Unique hardware identifier for the endpoint
Time Control: Displays scheduled active time windows for browser rules
Status: Policy status: Disabled / Blacklist / Whitelist
URL: Quantity of whitelisted or blacklisted website domains
Actions: Edit button to adjust browser control configuration
Administrators can select multiple devices and click Batch Configure to deploy identical web filtering rules to groups of endpoints. Click the Edit button next to any device to open the configuration popup window.
3. Configure Browser Access Policies
Inside the Configure Browser Control popup:
Select your desired Control Mode:
No Restriction: Disable all website filtering for this device
Blacklist Mode: Block access to the specified list of websites; all other sites remain accessible
Whitelist Mode: Only allow access to the listed websites; all other domains are blocked
Enter target website domains (e.g. yahoo.com, cnn.com) in the input field and press Enter to add domains to your list.
Choose an Effective Mode:
Always Effective: Enforce web filtering rules 24 hours a day
Time-based Effective: Activate restrictions only within defined time windows
For time-based rules:
Select applicable weekdays (Monday through Sunday)
Define precise hourly time slots to activate website access control
Click Save and Apply to push the policy to target Windows clients. The client will load and activate filtering rules immediately.
Important Note: Browser Control only governs traffic within Chrome and Edge. To manage internet access for other applications, combine this feature with the platform’s dedicated Network Control policies.
4. End-user Experience
When an employee attempts to visit a restricted website while the browser policy is active:
Access to the domain will be blocked within Chrome or Edge.
The endpoint generates an event log and sends the violation record back to the web management console for audit.
